What is a Contact List?
A contact list is the heart of an Instant Messenger. It is a list of all your Bol friends, family, acquaintances, co-workers and chat friends. When you
add friends
, their Bol IDs become visible in this list.
How do I get to know when someone comes online?
When someone from your contact list comes online, you get an indicator near your system tray on the right. Also, their username will appear in black in your
contact list
.
How do I add friends to my list?
Click on the 'Add Friends' button to add a contact. In the window that appears, enter your friend's email ID. An invitation will be sent on your behalf. Your friend will be added to your contact list as soon as s/he accepts the invite.
How do I find a friend's Rediffmail ID?
If you don not know your friend's Rediffmail ID, Bol can help you find it. Click on the 'Add Friends' button on the main window and click on 'Search for Friends' button in the next window. Enter your friend's name and location, and Rediff Bol will find users matching your specifications. You can then invite your friend to be a part of your contact list.
How can I make new friends?
Use the new 'Need a Friend?' button on the main window. Specify your preferences by selecting the age, gender and location and Rediff Bol will find matches from its Member Directory. You can then send a personal message along with your invitation to these matches and start making new friends.
My friend does not have a Rediffmail ID. Can I add him/ her to my Contact List?
Rediff Bol cannot work without a Rediffmail ID. Your friend will have to get one to start chatting with you on Bol.
